Where is GDIT2K1 sleeping, what is happening to all the people...I can instantly name a few who are missing in their own world without any news. Well! naming is not a good idea, but I can atleast say that (personally) I dont have any idea what is happening in the lives of say, Asheesh pandey, Sirish bolla, Karthik KS, Arvind tiwary, most of our batch girls :( , Bhavani Sankar, Ajay bedi, Darbari Sir .. list is endless...I agree that most of you would be unaware of what is happening in each other's life...but I am not complaining here.. i m just suggesting that we should be in constant touch..after all GDIT2K1 rules...doesnt it ?? why do we need to wait till our alumni meet (whenever we have it) or a big get together to know the latest happenings...

So this is my kind and sincere request to all the people to add more stuff/happenings/events in our lives..to keep in touch with those people we were constantly together for 4 years...

I first saw IIIT when I was in school and I just knew that I have to be here. It was a dream come true for me. I not only got into IIIT but also in one of the best batches ever. I couldn’t have asked for more.
Now, talk about coming to the right place at the right time!! Things were really HAPPENING in IIIT. And of course, we were there to witness the institute grow. First came the DEEMED UNIVERSITY status, our own version of “Independence Day”, independence to be autonomous. And WE were there.
It was our batch that actually “COMPLETED IIIT”. For the very first time, IIIT had all the four years of its BTech program and we became the only batch ever to actually KNOW all of it’s alumni that passed before us.
We were the ones who saw IIIT grow, not only IIIT as a matter of fact, but also the surrounding places like all the S/W companies coming up in our vicinity, ISB and we also saw the building of the now, “Land mark of Hyderabad” the GMC Balayogi Stadium. But you should know that we know these places from the time when their address read “Besides IIIT” and not vice-versa.
Our batch was also the trendsetters in its own rights. It was actually from our time that IIIT saw all its cultural festivals in the form of Amalgam and of course FELICITY. And who can forget the first ever inter house sports competitions.
We can also boast of being the only “Truly Nomadic” society of IIIT. For two years, we were always on a run. Running from this hostel to other, from one room to other. That was the time when we never unpacked our luggage for, we knew that we wont stay long in one room and change was on cards every moment. The newly built 3rd floor of OBH as well as the newly constructed NBH were actually “gdit2k1 hostels”. Also we know the problems ,

All those “TEAM BUILDING” exercises truly bonded us together as one entity.

We can also boast of having the best talent in IIIT, be it in programming, sports or music and who can forget the best dancer of our batch (look at patke)….

As SPIDERMAN once said “ With great powers, comes great responsibilities”. Our batch is also responsible for some of the major policies in the institute. Because of our perseverance and hardwork, IIIT is the only institute throughout India with “ZERO RAGGING”. We welcome our juniours with open arms. Maybe, the institute’s policy of taking freshers in huge quantities might have helped the cause here ;)….

Well speaking of institutes’ policies, let me tell you what happened in our first holi, which was quite an “indoor event” at that time. We thought that the colours of hostels were a bit too drab But I don’t know why but the faculty didn’t like our new paint job. And we ended up celebrating holi, for the first time in IIIT, for 2 days… first for colouring and then cleaning. And hence forth, holi became as you know of today a strictly “an outdoor affair”….

Of course we were the bonds of all the “state of art” technology. But we also believed in DIVERSITY. We took upon ourselves the challenge of building the IIIT’s formidable gaming industry. We just have to go to the other colleges to just collect the prizes they offer and in the mean while taking a shot or two at the sitting ducks they try to pass off as our competitors J.

You might be thinking that we know just about everything there is to know about IIIT from my speech so far, but you just mistaken!! We are still trying to figure out the “AC effect” in our labs. The moment the lab “cools” we are in some other “hot” destination in some corner.

But now, it is really sad and difficult to comprehend that our 4 years have come to an end. From now on, all our classmates will sport a small subscript under their names which will read “B. Tech. CSE, IIIT-H”………..

Let me remind you, once again that we were those people who joined IIIT not because of its now reputed “B. Tech” degree or the 100% placement record. There was nothing at the time when we joined, not even this AIEEE. We joined this college because we were passionate about this place and like myself, for many people it was a dream come true. In part, we can boast of being a part of IIIT in it’s growing phase, and have contributed our share in it’s growth. I will always remember this clean and green 62 acres of land for the rest of my life……

And now, my dear juniors. I know that you all are about to cry at your great loss which I might add is quite understandable. But for being - what I can now conclude safely from my lengthy speech – a LEGENDARY batch, we still think about our beloved juniors. It will be too great a blow for you to recover if we were to leave this institute in entirety.
We are leaving behind our representatives, the pioneers, in the form of MSBR, PHD students and even future IIIT professor for your benefit. Yes, the faculty might think that they are here for doing “State Of Art” research and development work, but I think we share a secret here J. They are here to fill in that great “void * main” and will always be there for you.
And now, as the past has been saved, the future generations of IIIT in safe hands, I can now safely bid good bye to you all….and may God bless IIIT.

PS: thank you all the professors for teaching us and our juniors for this farewell party.

This post is here because I've seen the review of this movie in almost all of the fellow IIIT bloggers... so thought y not create a post where all can post their comments about this common interest!!

According to me, the movie was really touching and romantic... I mean really touching!! The movie was like any other normal love story with a little bit of originality... the direction is the field which takes all the laurels... it is like any other regional movie with a boy and a gal who fall in love and then the story continues... it was soooo good that i felt like crying at some moments when i was watching the movie!! (i finally came out :d ).

People say that such movies spoil the youth and tempt them to fall in love which is *WRONG* in some people's view!! I really donno how falling in love is wrong and why people are still after this notion of fallin in love equivalent to a big sin... in fact some think it is the biggest sin in this world... well if they really think so, then why do they watch all these family movies and why do they also see these love story movies!! and why do they care for their *LOVED* ones!! isnt that loving someone?? so, there is a different justice for different persons, huh??

I dont think I will ever be able to understand their problems!! Their answers are not something which I am curious about but I just wish they understand that it aint wrong!!

- that I would change so much and barely realize it.

- that college kids throw airplanes, too.

- that if you wear polyester everyone will ask you why you're so
dressed up.

- that every clock on campus shows a different time.

- that if you were smart in highschool - so what?

- that I would go to a party the night before a final.

- that you can know everything and fail a test.

- that you can know nothing and ace a test.

- that home is a great place to visit.

- that most of my education would be obtained outside my classes.

- that friendship is more than getting drunk together.

- that I would be one of those people my parents warned me about.

- that free food served at 10:00 is gone by 9:50.

- that Sunday is a figment of the world's imagination.

Dear Pratham,

I miss you a lot today. I miss those wonderful days we spent
together. I miss the fun we had teasing each other. I miss the games
we used to play in your garden. It's been 3 long years since I've seen
you and there's a lot that I learnt about myself and our relation in
this gap.
In these 3 years, I had met many people. I had seen a bigger
world. There were all kinds of people, some good, some bad. There were
also people who cared a lot for me. But all along, I felt like a
loner. There were people around me, but none close to my heart. I
thought I was building this block myself and wasn't letting people
into my life and so I tried to let go of all such tangles. Things were
still the same.
I didn't realise what it was to be in love when you had
expressed your feelings for me. Over time, I realised that the divide
between friendship and love had blurred. I started loving you Pratham.
You are my first love and the only true one. You are 'pratham' to me
in my life. The feeling that you exist makes my life beautiful! I
thank you for gifting me with these wonderful moments of life. I've
heard that love is the most cherished feeling and now I feel it too.
Wherever you are, I will always pray for your happiness. At
any point in life, if you are in need of a person, please remember
that this silly girl cares the most for you and would go out of the
way to help you. I do miss you but I understand that

The main aim in writing this book should be that if we go through it 5
years from now it should really make us feel nostalgic for IIIT and give
motivation to each of us to attend batch reunions.

Every one of us must be having happiest,embarrassing moments spanned across
these 4 years which are the sections in this book.They can mention about them.
These moments should be like giving an idea how our thought process changed
over these 4 years.They shouldn't be too specific or too abstract.

The broad ideas that can be spread across the sections are::
Time spent in class rooms(Prof.GovindaRajulu's lecture remember Teachers Day
card),college events and Our batch's contribution (Here we can talk about how
we worked together to make amalgam a success,similarly Felicity
2004),Technical contributions(system administration,Organizing code craft and
Participating Programming contests,Research Papers,Projects etc.,),birth day
parties,placements,picnics etc

We can fill some pages with poems,nice philosophical articles

There are good number of people in our batch who can write such articles very
well.

Regarding the prejudice issue :
Suppose if you take Felicity there are guys who struggled a lot missing
their classes.They deserve a mention.Here it does not make sense if any
one feels dejected if their name is not mentioned.
Also if one accept it or not it's natural that we go for parties or movies in
groups some of the sections can be filled in by these groups like if you take
me I can fill some of the moments of my KodaiKanal trip which will interest every one
similarly rocky can fill his simla trip's stories.Here Please dont
misunderstand me this is just a suggestion to fill in some pages in the book
if we are in dearth of content.Since we divide into groups to write these
articles.Again the group memebers has to take care that every one in the group
gets a mention in the incident.

All these take a lot of time.So we have to start "as EARLY as Possible (AEP)".
If there is no problem from your side I can join in the organizing commitee of
this year book.

PS:This is purely my imagination.Please give suggestions that too AEP because
there is very less time.

Woke up seeing majji's mail. So created a login in blogspot and finally, am able to give my comments to the issue raised. The question he asked was, "Why does gdit2k1 rock??". So guys here are a few reasons why gdit2k1 rocks.
1) Cos it was us who bought along the "Deemed University" tag (of course our seniors and theirs fought for it but we will choose to conveniently forget about that ;) ).
2)IT was US who liberalized ragging.
3) It was OUR batch which COMPLETED IIIT (i.e. we were the 4th batch and thus iiit for the first time in it's history had all the 4years of it's very esteemed BTech degree.. we know our alumni by face)
4)The esteemed honour of frustrating our profs.
5) Brought along the concept of cultural events like FELICITY(started in 2k1), AMALGAM etc..
6) It was we who are responsible for bringing out descipline in IIIT (in the form of attendence rules, punctuality etc)
7) We can boast of having the cream of the laziest ppl.
8) Showed to the whole college what pilfering of bandwidth is (many ppl still are under probation for that ;) ).
9) Having the best of all cultural and acads. I dont want to go into the acads for obvious reasons, but in cultural we have the best violinist, best dancer (in the form of patke ;) ), best netas (the list is endless.....) and ya, gamers of great repute.
10) We started g*ydit2k1.
11) The max. downloaded movies and "downloaders".
12) Showed to our other awed juniours as well as seniors how to pass exams with little or NO effort at all ;).
13) HARDWORK???
14) Saw the whole construction of our great stadium complex.
15) Saw the insti grow from 2 floors to 3 floors.
16) Haunted the 3rd floor of obh exclusively.

We(lets say many of us) need ur(all our batchmates) suggestions regarding our upcoming 'year book'(not sure about this name, it can always be thougth about later). Please make sure ur suggestions are heard, by jotting them down in this blog (not this post necessarily). Don't regret later as having not contributed to your own year-book. (senti)

Basic questions we have in our mind and like ur comments on:
1) What should be content of the book in a broad sense, we think we should have everyone's thought about life/friends/future/memorable moments etc, but what about other peoples testimonials etc?
2) We should make a CD as well as a hard copy kind off. Hard Copy will be a printed version(reduced), so the contents have reduced from CD before them in this Hard Version. CD will surely have lots of comments etc, but we need to freeze the CD sometime, should we start with a editable stuff(person giving comment can edit his comments) and freeze it later, or should be freeze content as it comes?
3) What kind of photographs etc to bring in to it?
4) How to make sure ppl don't feel any prejudice/extra boosting given to anyone in this whole effort.

They were pretty close friends and as the guy claims, he liked her ever since he saw her, but just couldn’t tell her. After 3 years in college, he has gathered enough courage to send her a letter. First of all I am really sorry for not talking to you for such a long time and I know that u must be thinking that IIIT has changed me but believe me it has not .. I have been thinking about writing to you for a long time now and today I finally gathered enough time ( and as you read on .. enuf guts ) to write to you ... so howz life at ur end .. I hope you must be doing well at College.. howz every1 at home .. I got your letter and card a long time back and was thinking about writing to you since then..
I know what I am goin to say may sound a bit strange to you..but it is strange to me as well .. I never thought I cud be like this.. I never knew I could miss you so much to say what I am going to say .. but ever since we have separated our ways ( when I came to this college ) the feeling to closeness to you has been more than ever .. when I was with you I never thought what life would be like without you .. but someone has rightly said "feelings grow stronger with distances " .. u know when I got into college I was so happy that I never gave a thought to "us" .. but now things are different ..
my exams are approaching and now every exam brings with it the thoughts and memories of us sitting together and studying .. it's sort of a nostalgic feeling ... but certainly i miss u more than I miss home or anything else .. I may not have been able to convey these things to you and you may have been thinking that I never think about you .. but I do .. and more so with every passing day .. whenever I sit down and think about the moments we have had, the "sweet nothings" and "u first" .. I sometimes get so emotional thinking about it that my friends think that I like you .. but I am not sure what this is .. I certainly haven’t felt like this about anyone else .. ever .. and u were the first girl I ever talked to so intimately .. the times we have spent together are the best memory I've had ..
You know, I have many "friends who are girls" here .. but they are all so different from you .. and yet so similar to you .. I talk to them only because they seem to be so much like you .. each of them seems to have a touch of you .. it's a pity that I can't put them all together to get you but I am sure I wished I could .. I remember saying something that day on the trip too .. I can't really remember the exact words but I meant that at the end of the day I want to come back to a FAMILY. My wife and just 1 kid ( can't believe I really said that :) ) .. I want to make sure that I earn enough money that I can fulfil all their wishes, and I should be able to financially support others in need too.
Rocky and Googs both stressed the importance of Contribution to the Society. I am not sure I am that kind of a guy who would do that. I mean it's MY hard earned money ( ok ..u can remove HARD and read on .. no need to grin ), and nothing is enough when it comes to needs and expenditures, so why drain it down for others. I mean to say that I want to keep all the money to myself and my family.
I don't see myself making much difference to the technical world. Most probably I would stay in this line for another 2-3 years and move over to something related to management. After 50 - 55 years, I want to retire to a home in GOA, or may be Shimla ( changed my opinion after recent visit to Ranta's Place ). Amal said something about owning a Library at his place, and opening an ice-cream shop. hmm .. may be I'll make my house next to him .. :)

Future plans yes sure...

As rocky's post say, we had discussions over this on our Simla Trip. I feel it good to share my future plans/wishes too....

I wish to have my own Lab for making new kind of hardwares, like a foldable computer. I would always like to trip around the world, meet more and more people, and have more and more fun in life. I would love a GEEKY life always.(I feel so atleast now).

All the money I earn, should be spent in having fun in life, thats why I don't target at earning a lot or something, a decent salary would suffice, just peace of mind should be there at work. Opening new business harnessing the latest technologies is also one of my interest.

Some contribution to society like Rocky is a must, I wish to help in providing Computer literacy to ppl in India.

actually Chandoo's post reminds me of our shimla trip ... when all of us got bored with every possible thing that we could have done on such a trip, i.e antakshari, dumb charades, discussion of love lives ( basically the crushes and crashes ;) ) we moved on to our future plans.. how would we like to see ourselves after say 20-25 years from now... I think initially it was like our immediate goals (2-3 yrs from now0 short term goals ( 5-10 yrs from now) and ultimate wish (20-30 yrs later or after retirement).. but finally we settled on the long term plans...
Any way I won't disclose what other said (though there was nothing that secret), let everyone write himself... coming to my future plans... well a little correction.. its not a plan... my wishes for my future life :)

I don't really remember what I said that evening... but taking from others and also adding some of my wishes... I would like to see myself living happily with my family in a beautiful house in some hilly area, with a room full of books. A peaceful surroundings... I hope that I'll have a nice, caring and understanding wife to accompany me there :)

I don't want to beceome the richest person on the earth, I know that I'll earn sufficient money to have a life like what Kabir has said "Sai, itna dijiye jame kutumb samaye, main bhi bhookha na rahoon, Sadhu na bhukha jaye". That is enough money to take care of myself and any guest that comes to my door...

I would love to run a school, not for charity purpose but to help the society which has given everything to me...

As per my professional life is concerned, I wish to repeat what Jack Welch has done... Those who don't know Jack Welch never left the first company he joined(GE) for any other company and finally retired from GE as its CEO...

Now that we will be away from each other, lets write what we intend to do in the upcoming years...something like 'where do you want to see yourself after 5 years' :)) we can write what we want to do in academics, what type of life, work etc...anything that you find suitable...

Sandeep Chandna-> I have had lot of fun being in IIIT and would like to continue it for all my life...I feel having fun is the best part in one's life as there is a saying (recited by AB in Black) 'life is like an ice-cream, eat it before it melts' ... I believe in the statement ... so I would love to have fun as much as possible while working, while hanging out etc...I dont have many plans for future as far as academics is concerned but 5-6 years from now I will have a master's degree for sure...

Felicity starts : fun n games for final years

felicity the Festival of IIIT has started with a big bang this time. The atmosphere here in IIIT is filled with great excitement and spirit. Especially for us, the final years who are throwing themselves in every event possible and enjoying themselves .

With no work to do , we have ample time to donate to any such event to enjoy our last few months of stay here.Many are feeling a bit nostalgic abt the institute and abt the friends they got here ,i am one such being among them.

Hope this blog will remain active ,forever, with us contributing all our life experiences and messages for all of our friends who can use this platform to remain in touch with themselves.
